I will usually arrive an hour or so before the party starts to set up my stations.
For the younger age groups age (4-8 years) I suggest setting up 3 stations/tables as their crafts are less involved and generally go quickly. This gives each child time to enjoy each station. For the older groups, craft activities can be more complex and take more time to complete for example making a dream catcher etc. In these instances I would normally set up the main craft activity for everyone to start and finish together to make sure every one has enough time to complete the activity. If there is time left, or as one table starts to finish I would bring out the playdough and other free activities for the kids to enjoy.
We provide three 4ft tables and stools for the children to sit on while doing their activities. We require a minimum of 6 square meters for setup for all 3 stations together. We are currently unable to provide a Marquee for shade or protection from the weather so we recommend setting up inside a house or at a venue unless the weather is predicted to be sunny all day without any wind.
My set up is all cream colour - cream table covers and cream stool covers. This works well as the craft activities stick out on the table and makes it easy to match with almost any theme.
I will place myself at the guided table in order to help children with the chosen activity.
Here we will set up a free painting table where children are given paper and paint and can sit and paint whatever they choose.
Here each child will receive about 300g of playdough in colours to match your party theme. For example we could do shades of brown playdough accompanied with plastic bugs for nature themes or rainbow coloured for unicorn parties. Each child is welcome to take home their bit of playdough.
This would be considered the main craft activity where children are guided through the steps to complete the activity.
